The trail that connects Praia to Lagoa do Fogo starts on a dirt road, in a pasture area.

Guide yourself through the signs until you reach a levada. Along the trail there is a variety of flora and fauna species that the walkers can find and appreciate, such as “Uva-da-Serra”, Green Heather and Laurustinus. On the other hand, the beautiful landscapes of this trail offer superb views of the south coast of São Miguel Island and, a little bit ahead, over the magnificent Lagoa do Fogo.

Lagoa do Fogo is set in a natural reserve, located in the crater of the volcano. Its beauty and serenity reflect a true natural wonder, which still hold the primitive and wild aspect, by being the lagoon with the least human intervention of all the lagoon of São Miguel.

Once you are on the shore of the lagoon you can dive into the waters of this magnificent lagoon, to feel the power of the nature and refresh the body and soul.
