This walking trail begins at the Forest Park of Trupes do Capelo in the west point of Faial Island and ends on the admirable lighthouse of Ponta Capelinhos.

Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent views that arise either on the island or on its majestic scenery and calderas.

This trail allows hikers to visit and travel around two volcanic cones. You should follow the indicated path until you reach the first fork, where you should turn right towards the Cabeço Verde. This path takes walkers up to the top of the volcano, where you can walk around the caldera which has unique views.

Continue the trail until you find the ascent to Cabeço do Canto, where you can enjoy a fabulous view over the Capelinhos Volcano.

The trail also passes by the Capelinhos Museum Centre, which you can visit and get to know a bit more about the history of this region.

Continue the path until you reach the Lighthouse of Ponta dos Capelinhos a flagship site with a fascinating structure. This lighthouse has stopped working in 1957, after a major volcanic eruption in the same area, whereas its base is still submerged in volcanic sands.
