This trail - located on Terceira Island, begins near the Parque do Relvão (Angra do Heroísmo) which will take you for a unique journey, bordering the crater of the volcano while offers fabulous panoramic views of the whole area.

It is an easy walk that can be done by everyone and shows a different perspective of the island. By doing this trail you can also discover a bit of the military history that was lived here.

The first point of interest is precisely the impressive fortress of São João Baptista, considered the most important fortification of the islands, not only because of its size but also because of the defensive role which had in past times.

Along the walk that borders the crater of the volcano, passes by the four peaks which round this crater, namely Pico das Cruzinhas, Pico do Facho, Pico da Vigia and Pizo Zimbeiro. Enjoy the wonderful views that this trail offers. Feel the breeze and let yourself be involved by the harmonious sound of birds that go along with you.

Before going down toward the end of the trail, visit the viewpoint of Pico das Cruzinhas (the most visited of the entire Island) to enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.
